Columbia County Rural Library District now provides email notification for various notices.  The default notifications are:

• Advanced three-day notification prior to when an item is due.
•  Overdue notification when an item is 10, 30, and 180 days overdue plus a letter will also be sent when an item is 30 and 180 days overdue.
• Holds filled notification lets you know there is an item awaiting pickup at the library.

Besides these three email notifications, you can also request notification for:

• Item checkouts giving you a list of items you checked out.
• Item check-ins giving you a list of items that you checked in.

You can also opt out of being notified by email in which case a staff person will call you when you have an overdue item at 10 days and when there is a hold in for you.

You can ask us to set your email notifications or you can do it yourself.

Go to library’s catalog at www.ccrld.lib.wa.us, click on:

1. Search Library Catalog.
2. Then click on “Log into your account” at the top of the catalog page.
3. Once logged into your account, enter your library card number and last name in lowercase.
4.  Go to “My messaging” on the left-side.
   1. You can then decide which email notifications you wish to receive by clicking the box or unclicking the box if already checked. 
   2.  To opt out of all email notification just click on the “do not notify” box. 
5. You must have an email address put into your personal settings to receive email notification. 
6. You can add or remove your email address by going to “My personal details” or request us to do it for you.

If you have never given us your email address and would like to receive email notification, please enter your email under “My personal details” or ask us to do it for you.

Ramp construction on the front of the Library will begin April 2^nd and will be completed by the end of April if not sooner, depending on the weather.

• During construction entry to the library will be through the Delany room doors.
• Use book drop in alley.
• There will be noise, especially during the first week when the current steps and landing will be removed.
• Parking will be limited to Clay Street, in front of the Methodist Church, and a small area in front of the Delany room.

When completed, there will be a new ADA approved ramp, steps, wireless ADA operator button at library door, new ADA exterior door on the library side and Delany side and a new interior door coming into the library.

The Columbia County Rural Library District is very pleased to announce that our new ILS (circulation) system, KoHa, goes live this weekend!

It should be a smooth transition, however, should you have any questions about any of your account activity, please give us a call (382-4131).

Columbia County Rural Library District February board meeting has been changed from February 20th to February 27th at 7 p.m. (This month only)

 Meeting date changed due to Presidents’ Day being a holiday on February 20th

The Columbia County Rural Library District will be updating their circulation, cataloging and public access catalog software, known as an Integrated Library System (ILS), in February.  The Columbia County Rural Library District Board of Trustees approved the new open source system “Koha integrated library system”with ByWater Solutions. ByWater Solutions provides ongoing support and will host the system.

Training for the staff on the new system will be January 23rd through January 25th.  The Library District will go live with their new system on February 21st.

Closure dates and time in January for staff training are as follows:

• Closed all day Monday, January 23rd
• Closed Tuesday, January 24th from noon to 5 p.m. – OPEN 5 to 8 p.m.
• Closed Wednesday, January 25th from 10 to 1 p.m. – OPEN 1 to 5 p.m.

The Columbia County Rural Library District Board of Trustees announces an opening on the County Library Board of Trustees. The County Library Board is taking applications for anyone who is interested in a five-year term as trustee beginning April 1, 2012.  Applications must be received by Chair Jay Ball at the Columbia County Rural Library District by January 13, 2011.  Applicants will be interviewed by the Library District Board of Trustees at one of their regular meetings in February with one person’s name being recommended to the Columbia County Commissioners for appointment.  The trustee whose term will expire March 31^st will be reapplying for a second term of 5 years.

Please pick up a Trustee packet at the Dayton Memorial Library, 111 S. 3^rd Street, Dayton during library open hours or visit the Employment page to view the packet and print off an application to submit by the deadline date of January 13, 2012.
